Pine Country Caravan Park

Having filled the motorhome with fuel the previous day, we were on our way just after 8.00am. Once again we travelled with our neighbours.

Our first stop was in Pinnaroo. We had our loo break and proceeded over to the Pinnaroo Bakery for some morning tea. Our next stop was Naracoorte where we stopped for some lunch and another loo break. We finally arrive at Pine Country Caravan Park just after 3.00pm. Having paid our en-suite site fees for the week we proceeded to our site and commenced setting up. Once we erected the gazebo and gazebo tent we set the tables up inside the tent. We brought our Engel fridge to keep in the tent. This allowed us to keep our milk and other products in this fridge negating the need to get those items from the fridges in our motorhome and/or caravan.

Dinner tonight was from the local fish and chip shop.

Prior to going on our drive On Thursday we drove to Port MacDonnell with a detour to Mt Shank on the drive down and to the Little Blue Lake on the drive back. We drove along the foreshore and through to Cape Northumberland, which is the southern most pint in South Australia. We visited the local seafood shop but the prices for seafood was still quite expensive so we opted for takeaway from the fish and chips shop on the foreshore.

On Friday we visited the Umpherston Sinkhole and Engelbrecht Cave. Due to COVID restrictions we were unable to view Engelbrecht Cave unless we paid for a guided tour, which we didn’t want to do.

Saturday was spent doing some shopping and relaxing at the caravan park.

Sunday’s drive was to Beachport and Robe. We were a little disappointed with Robe.

As usual whilst we are travelling, Monday is Gary’s work day. Whilst Gary worked, the rest of us hit the shops for some retail therapy.

Tuesday’s drive was to Tantanoola and then on to Penola. Later that afternoon we packed up the gazebo and gazebo tent, in readiness for our departure on Wednesday morning.

We left Pine Country Caravan Park around 10.30 am and drove to Bordertown where we would be staying for the night for our first free camping experience.

Our accommodation costs were $320.00 (Stay 7 nights / Pay for 6 nights).

Bordertown Recreation Lake

We stayed at the Bordertown Recreation Lake.

We had access to water and a uni-sex toilet. There was also a walking path around the lake with picnic facilities which included a free undercover gas BBQ with electricity for small appliances (kettle, toaster, etc.). 

We think we may have been spoilt with this free camp as the location was perfect.
