Thank you to the cachers that braved today’s 45+ temperature to come celebrate my 50th birthday.
Great to chat with Polky Quest (and the kids), Flipper&Co (A & R Teams), Crane2, Adrian Mc (and bubby Erica) and Rocky Glen Grommets.
No problems with the meals – not like with the Pub Lunches in Adelaide.
Thanks for the presents of cache containers, geocoins and travel bug. Look out for the CACHE-1 Travel Bug!
Oh and by the way this was a ‘100′ milestone cache – our fourth (400).

Whilst the company was most enjoyable, I have no idea what the meal would have been like as having ordered at 12.10pm I was still waiting for my schnitzel to arrive at 1.30pm.
Having enquired three or four times with the waitresses who kept saying it shouldn’t be too long, I finally gave up any hope of a meal and requested a refund as I should have been back at work by then! Even getting my refund took five minutes! Unbelievable.
Other teams on our table had also been waiting well over an hour before they received their meals.
The pub really needs to get a system happening whereby they can serve a large group of 40-60 people without anybody missing out on their meal!! |

After all the bother with muggles at the previous two caches it was with some relief that we could retrieve this cache without being insight of any live muggles. We enjoyed the grave site tour and will definitely go to the Tourism Office and get the full details of the walking trail. Co-ords all spot on and once GZ was calculated an easy find. Anyway, neither growingupisoptional or us had found this cache. so off to the listed co-ordinates we go, answer the questions to find the location of the cache. Then the big decision, easy or hard. We decided on the easy, which was a few kilometred drive to within 20 or so metres of GZ. By the time we found GZ, growingupis optional had signed the log and was well gone. I admit to having a little poke around previously on my way to work this week without success. Having lunched with the cache owner at the Event lunch this week at which another cacher present also indicated they didn’t find the cache, we thought it might have been muggled. So with more info as to where the cache was, and with four-fun’s find yesterday, I can confirm that the cache has NOT been muggled. This location is a little oasis just off the Sturt Highway and much better than the parking area near the toilets on the Highway if you want a quick break for a coffee and a strech before conttinuing with your travels. Don’t know how, but we definitely left the best until last The drive in was a little exhilarating don’t know whey idiots have to drive through when the track is obviously too wet to drive. We found a suitable parking spot abort 70 meters from GZ and proceeded to walk to GZ. As I was almost on GZ I saw a brown snake slithering into the opposite end of the log to where the cache was. The cache appeared to be accessible so I quickly dived in, retrieved, logged and replaced the cache and hopefully the snake was none the wiser that I had done so. We weren’t sure whether the cache was inside or outside the cemetery fence, so we entered the second gate and drove up to the parking bay. We were not surprised to see the nearby Caravan Park with what appeared to be a full house. Parked at the end of the track and commenced the 300 metre or so walk to GZ. Had some initial concerns as to how to retrieve the cache and was relieved to find an easy route to GZ rather than the direct route. We didn’t have any trackables to swap, nor did we have the time to discover any of the residents (too many muggles walking, jogging, cycling past). Find# 317
Took: Nothing / Left: Nothing
Middle of a long weekend in SA and the end of the Mildura Country Music Festival made this cache a lot harder to retrieve than it ought to be having to feign interest in the various cruises on offer whilst looking for the cache. We retrieved and logged our find and then had to wait the best part of 15 minutes before various muggles checked the cruises and moved on. This was 5 of 14 caches for the day on our day trip to Mildura . TFTC Emmnmml. |

We also had problems accessing the webcam, after a couple of mobile calls to our cameraman we had to resort to doing the next best thing – taking a photo of the web cam, the fountain, the GPSr and me all in clear view. Hopefully, in view of previous logs this is acceptable. This was 4 of 14 caches for the day on our day trip to Mildura and 1 of 3 reverb caches for the day. TFTC reverb. |

What is there to say – how do you find such way out locations to place a cache? Having just completed 2 caches on the other side of the lake, this one proved to be a little more challenging. The track in is strictly dry weather only. Once at GZ the cache was retrieved, logged and replaced. This was 3 of 14 caches for the day on our day trip to Mildura. TFTC Wackys. |
