Between 8 December 2014 and 19 January 2015 we spent 6 weeks travelling through the UK and parts of Europe.
We arrived in Amsterdam and collected our leased Dacia Duster. We drove to the Hook of Holland and boarded our overnight ferry to Harwich in England.
Upon arriving in England we drove to Ipswich to buy pre-paid SIM Cards for our UK stay. All together we stayed 14 days in the UK.
Leeds (1 day)
Our first night in England was in Leeds. Next to our Holiday Inn was a restaurant where we enjoyed our first Yorkshire Pudding which filled the plate.
Edinburgh (3 days)
The following three nights we stayed in Edinburgh, visiting Edinburgh Castle and the Golden Mile precinct.
We booked a bus tour to visit Loch Ness but unfortunately the bus broke down and by the time a replacement bus arrived the tour was changed to visit Loch Lomond as we did not have enough time to do the planned tour. We were most disappointed.
Glasgow (1 day)
Leaving Edinburgh we drove to Glasgow and stayed overnight.
Liverpool (2 days)
From Glasgow we drove to Liverpool staying at the Holiday Inn at Port Albert dock. We went on the Magical Mystery Tour visiting Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields and places at which the four Beatles grew up in and around Liverpool.
Cardiff (1 day)
From Liverpool we drove to Cardiff. Whilst at Cardiff we went to a presentation of the Lion King stage show.
Plymouth (1 day)
From Cardiff we drove to Plymouth and stayed at Boringdon Hall.
London (4 days)
From Plymouth we drove to Stonehenge and then on to London. Whilst in London we traveled around London on the hop-on hop-off bus.
Canterbury (1 day)
From London we drove to Canterbury, which is a short distance from Dover where we were to board the ferry to Paris.
